Intro to Acting
Dates: July 21 – 25, 2025
Price: $500/week
This program is taught by Sanford School teacher, Clint Williams. Nervous to speak in front of a group? Want to become more comfortable presenting and performing? Well if so, this class was designed for you! Students will gain skills in acting, improvisation, visualization, breathing, and relaxation, as well as a working vocabulary of theater terms. Additionally, students will learn valuable public speaking skills in a safe space where they are free to learn the proper way to combat nerves that may impede successful speaking in front of groups of people.
This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their group in ESF’s Senior Camp for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Laura Jezyk. Come join us for a fun-filled week of exploring nature and children’s literature. We will utilize the beautiful Sanford campus to inspire our budding artists and readers! The week will include different crafts, dramatic play, writing, storytelling, and more. It is a great way to keep your child’s mind and body active and also reinforce academic skills and their love of reading. This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Dates: July 21 - August 1, 2025 Price: $390/week
This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Mike Symons. Whether you're interested in journaling, novel writing, or curious to explore the power of the written word, this course will give you a chance to explore your unique voice on the page! Students will engage in all aspects of the writing process, from creative spark to publication submission! In this seminar-style writing workshop, students will keep a notebook where they respond to creative prompts and free-writes, eventually developing their favorites into complete poems and stories. They will both share their work and receive feedback as a writer and read the work of their peers and offer feedback as an editor. After only two weeks, students leave the course with a creative writing portfolio ready to be submitted for writing contests and publication! *Sanford Students are required to attend all classes if they wish to receive school credit. Please note: this class requires a 2-week minimum commitment, for the weeks of July 21-25 and July 28 - Aug 1. This course will give students the opportunity to prepare some of the skills that will be vital to their success in sixth grade English! Students will engage in a week of activities and assignments balanced around fifty percent reading and discussion skills and fifty percent creative and argumentative writing skills. Reading assignments will be a blend of choice read and teacher assigned short stories, which will heavily focus on reading comprehension strategies and understanding a few broad thematic elements. Our writing activities will be centered around a composition journal, where students will keep all of their major and minor writing assignments, from creative writing exercises to longer prompted responses. Students will specifically learn about the ins-and-outs of paragraph writing, the basics of grammatical structure and rules, and effectively translating their thoughts onto the page in an organized manner. This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their group in ESF's Senior Camp: Upper Division for remainder of the afternoon. This program is taught by Sanford Middle School teacher, Chris Keiser. This course is your ticket to mastering the skills that will set you up for success in seventh-grade English! Students will engage in a week of activities and assignments balanced around fifty percent reading and discussion skills and fifty percent creative and argumentative writing skills. Reading assignments will be a blend of choice read and teacher assigned short stories, articles and poems that cover a variety of genres: fiction, non-fiction, drama, and folklore. Students will explore what happens in these texts, how we can glean meaning from them, and their personal connections to the narratives. Our writing activities will be centered around a composition journal, where students will keep all of their major and minor writing assignments, from creative writing exercises to longer prompted responses. This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their group in ESF's Senior Camp: Upper Division for remainder of the afternoon. This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Sophia Pollinger. Responsibility leads to independence which leads to confidence! For children to become independent in common home and school tasks, they need to be given opportunities to practice. This enrichment program will expose 4 and 5-year-olds to jobs that can be done at home to build personal confidence for when they come into the classroom. Students will learn through stories, crafts, and various hands-on activities that will build a home and school connection. Along with activities that will build their independence physically, they will also work through social stories and group games to practice regulating specific emotions on their own. This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Bunk in ESF's Junior Camp: Mini Division for remainder of the afternoon. No previous acting experience is necessary, as this class is open to all students.
